New Mentality ANXIETY Disorder Program

The New Mentality anxiety program is designed to treat and improve the lives of your child that have been diagnosed or have symptoms of ANXIETY, without the use of medication.

The program has been developed to help children improve anxiety symptoms in social situations, important events, daily routines, post-traumatic experiences or wherever experiences they feel limited, threatened, worried and/or constantly try to avoid.

ANXIETY has been proven by science to be based on brain functioning.  A person with Anxiety has differences in brain development and brain activity that affect behavior, control of thoughts and daily life.

How We Can Help

New Mentality uses a clinically proven natural approach to treating Anxiety: Biofeedback is the number one alternative treatment for Anxiety and is backed by more than 50 years of research. During each session, our neurotherapist has the ability to watch your brain functioning from moment-to-moment and can provide immediate feedback and coaching on your training progress.

Performance and Testing anxiety are a combination of physiological over-arousal, tension and somatic symptoms, along with fear of failure, worry and dread that occur before or during competition or testing situations. With our innovative technology, our neurotherapist performs a neurophysiologic stress test, designed to measure heart rate variability, muscle tension, skin conductance, and other physiological responses to gather a baseline of how the client’s body responds/reacts under pressure.

Our neurotherapist also performs what’s known as a “brain map” to begin to understand how the individual’s brain is functioning. A qEEG brain map which gives us a visual representation of how your brain is functioning and the areas that might be overactive or under-active.  Seeing and understanding your brain areas through brain mapping is important because it provides us information about what each area of the brain does, meaning its job or responsibility and how it uses speed or energy.

With the neurophysiologic stress test, qEEG brain mapping information and a combination of other clinical assessments, the team at New Mentality can create a treatment program best suited to assist our client’s in mastering their physiological responses to stress and gaining confidence and control over their anxiety.

ANXIETY?

Anxiety disorders in kids go beyond ordinary worries—persistent fear, tension, or avoidance starts to block everyday life at school, home, or with friends. Genetics, temperament, stressful experiences (bullying, illness, family conflict), and an over‑sensitive “fight‑or‑flight” system can all play a role. Common clues include constant “what if?” questions, clinginess or refusal to separate from caregivers, stomachaches or headaches without a medical cause, irritability, trouble sleeping, and sudden meltdowns in social or feared situations.

“Childhood anxiety is common, often under‑treated, and frequently co‑occurs with other challenges—early, evidence‑based support makes a real difference.”

When everyday jitters become daily roadblocks, early support makes a big difference. If these signs sound familiar, reach out to a qualified child‑therapist or pediatrician for a thorough evaluation and a plan tailored to your child’s needs.

What is Anxiety Disorder (children)

A group of conditions where everyday fears grow into persistent worry, tension, or avoidance that interferes with school, friendships, or family life. Common types include Separation Anxiety Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety, Specific Phobias, and (in some cases) Panic Disorder.

  • 1 in 10 U.S. kids (ages 3‑17) have a current, diagnosed anxiety disorder—11 % of girls and 9 % of boys. CDC

  • ~6.5 % of children worldwide live with an anxiety disorder, according to a 27‑country review. AAFP

  • 58 million children and teens globally were affected in 2019. World Health Organization (WHO)

  • In U.S. teens 13‑18 years, anxiety jumps to 1 in 4, with roughly 1 in 17 experiencing severe symptoms. AAFP

  • Kids with any mental‑health diagnosis: 37 % have two or more conditions, showing how often anxiety overlaps with other issues. CDC

  • Only ≈31 % of children diagnosed with an anxiety disorder receive any form of treatment, highlighting a major care gap. PMC

What causes Anxiety?

Genetics & biology: a family history of anxiety, sensitive “fight‑or‑flight” systems.
Life events: bullying, academic pressure, illness, parental conflict, loss, or trauma.
Temperament & thinking styles: shyness, perfectionism, catastrophic thoughts.
Environmental factors: inconsistent routines, overexposure to frightening news, or chronic stress at home.

Key signs to watch for

 • Excessive worry or reassurance‑seeking most days (≥ 6 months for GAD).
• Reluctance to attend school or sleep away from caregivers (separation anxiety).
• Physical complaints—stomachaches, headaches, nausea—with no clear medical cause.
• Tantrums, clinginess, or freeze/avoid behaviors in social or feared situations.
• Restlessness, poor concentration, irritability, or trouble sleepin

How is Anxiety disorder diagnosed?

A New Mentality licensed child‑mental‑health professional confirms a diagnosis through gentle interviews, play‑based observation, and standardized rating scales, while ruling out medical issues. With evidence‑based therapies—like CBT adapted for children, play therapy, and parent coaching

The good news: with our innovative technology, neurotherapist will perform what’s known as a “brain map” to begin the assessment process and begin to understand how the individual’s brain is functioning. With that information and a combination of other clinical assessments, we can create a treatment program best suited to assist in improving your child ANXIETY Disorder. Early support makes recovery faster and protects future well‑being.
