New Mentality ANXIETY Disorder Program (for adults)

The New Mentality anxiety program is designed to treat and improve the lives of adults that have been diagnosed or have symptoms of ANXIETY, without the use of medication.

The program has been developed to help adults improve anxiety symptoms in social situations, important events, daily routines, post-traumatic experiences or wherever experiences they feel limited, threatened, worried and/or constantly try to avoid.

ANXIETY has been proven by science to be based on brain functioning.  A person with Anxiety has differences in brain development and brain activity that affect behavior, control of thoughts and daily life.

How We Can Help

New Mentality uses a clinically proven natural approach to treating Anxiety: Biofeedback is the number one alternative treatment for Anxiety and is backed by more than 50 years of research. At New Mentality we recognize that many Adults suffer from Anxiety.  During each session, our neurotherapist has the ability to watch your brain functioning from moment-to-moment and can provide immediate feedback and coaching on your training progress.

Performance and Testing anxiety are a combination of physiological over-arousal, tension and somatic symptoms, along with fear of failure, worry and dread that occur before or during competition or testing situations. With our innovative technology, our neurotherapist performs a neurophysiologic stress test, designed to measure heart rate variability, muscle tension, skin conductance, and other physiological responses to gather a baseline of how the client’s body responds/reacts under pressure.

Our neurotherapist also performs what’s known as a “brain map” to begin to understand how the individual’s brain is functioning. A qEEG brain map which gives us a visual representation of how your brain is functioning and the areas that might be overactive or under-active.  Seeing and understanding your brain areas through brain mapping is important because it provides us information about what each area of the brain does, meaning its job or responsibility and how it uses speed or energy.

With the neurophysiologic stress test, qEEG brain mapping information and a combination of other clinical assessments, the team at New Mentality can create a treatment program best suited to assist our client’s in mastering their physiological responses to stress and gaining confidence and control over their anxiety.

ANXIETY?

In the case of an anxiety disorder, the feeling of fear may be with you all the time. It is intense and sometimes debilitating. This type of anxiety may cause you to stop doing things you enjoy. In extreme cases, it may prevent you from entering an elevator, crossing the street, or even leaving your home. If left untreated, the anxiety will keep getting worse.

“Nearly 40 million people in the United States experience an anxiety disorder in any given year. Only about one-third of those suffering from anxiety receive treatment.”

Anxiety disorders are the most common form of emotional disorder and can affect anyone at any age.  Women are more likely than men to be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.

Remember: Occasional nerves are normal; anxiety disorders persist, feel hard to control, and drain daily functioning. If these signs sound familiar, talking with a mental‑health professional is the fastest route to clarity and relief.

DID YOU KNOW?

What is Anxiety Disorder (ADULTS)

A group of conditions in which everyday worries intensify into persistent fear, nervousness, or physical tension that interferes with work, relationships, or well‑being. Common sub‑types include Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and specific phobias.

What causes Anxiety?

Biology: inherited temperament, overactive “fight‑or‑flight” circuits, neurotransmitter imbalances.
Life experiences: trauma, chronic stress, major life changes, illness, or loss.
Personality & thinking styles: perfectionism, high need for control, catastrophic thinking.
Medical/chemical factors: thyroid problems, caffeine or substance misuse, certain medications.

Key signs to watch for

• Excessive worry most days for ≥ 6 months (GAD).
• Sudden surges of terror or “panic attacks.”
• Avoidance of social or feared situations.
• Restlessness, muscle tension, racing heart, stomach upset, or poor sleep.
• Trouble concentrating or feeling “on edge.”

How is Anxiety disorder diagnosed?

A licensed clinician (psychologist, psychiatrist, or primary‑care doctor) will:
1. Clinical interview – explore symptoms, duration, triggers, impact on life.
2. Standardized scales – e.g., GAD‑7, HAM‑A, or Panic Disorder Severity Scale.
3. Medical review – rule out physical causes (thyroid, anemia, cardiac issues).
4. DSM‑5‑TR criteria – confirm the specific anxiety disorder and any co‑existing conditions such as depression.
5. With innovative technology, neurotherapist can perform what’s known as a “brain map” to begin the assessment process and begin to understand how the individual’s brain is functioning. With that information and a combination of other clinical assessments, can create a treatment program best suited to assist in improving the ANXIETY Disorder.
