The New Mentality anxiety program is designed to treat and improve the lives of adults that have been diagnosed or have symptoms of ANXIETY, without the use of medication. We proudly serve Mooresville, the Lake Norman area including Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, and surrounding areas.
The program has been developed to help adults improve anxiety symptoms in social situations, important events, daily routines, post-traumatic experiences or wherever experiences they feel limited, threatened, worried and/or constantly try to avoid.
ANXIETY has been proven by science to be based on brain functioning. A person with Anxiety has differences in brain development and brain activity that affect behavior, control of thoughts and daily life.
New Mentality uses a clinically proven, natural approach to treating anxiety. Biofeedback, backed by over 50 years of research, is the leading alternative treatment for anxiety. Many adults suffer from anxiety, and during each session, our neurotherapist monitors brain function in real time, providing immediate feedback and coaching.
Using innovative technology, our neurotherapist conducts a neurophysiologic stress test that measures heart rate variability, muscle tension, skin conductance, and other responses.
We also perform a brain assessment to visualize brain activity, identifying areas that are overactive or underactive. This mapping reveals how different brain regions function and their energy use.
Combining stress test results, brain mapping, and clinical assessments, New Mentality crafts personalized treatment plans to help clients manage stress responses and build confidence in controlling their anxiety.

In the case of an anxiety disorder, the feeling of fear may be with you all the time. It is intense and sometimes debilitating. This type of anxiety may cause you to stop doing things you enjoy. In extreme cases, it may prevent you from entering an elevator, crossing the street, or even leaving your home. If left untreated, the anxiety will keep getting worse.
“Nearly 40 million people in the United States experience an anxiety disorder in any given year. Only about one-third of those suffering from anxiety receive treatment.”
Anxiety disorders are the most common form of emotional disorder and can affect anyone at any age. Women are more likely than men to be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.
Remember: Occasional nerves are normal; anxiety disorders persist, feel hard to control, and drain daily functioning. If these signs sound familiar, talking with a mental‑health professional is the fastest route to clarity and relief.

DID YOU KNOW?
A group of conditions in which everyday worries intensify into persistent fear, nervousness, or physical tension that interferes with work, relationships, or well‑being. Common sub‑types include Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and specific phobias.
• Biology: inherited temperament, overactive “fight‑or‑flight” circuits, neurotransmitter imbalances.
• Life experiences: trauma, chronic stress, major life changes, illness, or loss.
• Personality & thinking styles: perfectionism, high need for control, catastrophic thinking.
• Medical/chemical factors: thyroid problems, caffeine or substance misuse, certain medications.
• Excessive worry most days for ≥ 6 months (GAD).
• Sudden surges of terror or “panic attacks.”
• Avoidance of social or feared situations.
• Restlessness, muscle tension, racing heart, stomach upset, or poor sleep.
• Trouble concentrating or feeling “on edge.”
A licensed clinician (psychologist, psychiatrist, or primary‑care doctor) will:
1. Clinical interview – explore symptoms, duration, triggers, impact on life.
2. Standardized scales – e.g., GAD‑7, HAM‑A, or Panic Disorder Severity Scale.
3. Medical review – rule out physical causes (thyroid, anemia, cardiac issues).
4. DSM‑5‑TR criteria – confirm the specific anxiety disorder and any co‑existing conditions such as depression.
5. With innovative technology, neurotherapist can perform what’s known as a “brain map” to begin the assessment process and begin to understand how the individual’s brain is functioning. With that information and a combination of other clinical assessments, can create a treatment program best suited to assist in improving the ANXIETY Disorder.
