New Mentality was a sponsor at the 10th annual Attention Deficit Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Camp that took place at Dan Nicholas Park in Salisbury on June 25-29, and the theme for this camp was “Medieval”. The ADD/ADHD camp was founded by Salisbury pediatricians Dr. Wayne Koontz and Dr. Jill Aiken.
For 10 years, the camp has offered children and parents techniques of how to better deal with ADD on a day-to-day basis by building self-esteem and having the children participate in team building exercises. During the week, the children participate in drama classes, physical fitness classes, karate classes and chemistry classes. All classes were taught by North Carolina certified teachers.
“Assisting the youth in the community is very special to me, but assisting youth that have been diagnosed with attention deficit disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder gives New Mentality an opportunity to touch a special population of youth,” said Tracy Alston, President and CEO of New Mentality, PC. “It has been a lifelong mission of mine to provide children that have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD with strategies to help them live a more meaningful life by rebuilding their self-esteem and providing them with techniques that will help them live productive lives.”
